DE Wolfe Out Against Chargers, Welker And Bailey Will Play

SP27FBNBRONX_ADO8473

Defensive end Derek Wolfe has been ruled out for Sunday’s playoff game against the San Diego Chargers according to the team’s official website.

You win some, you lose some. Wide receiver Wes Welker will finally be able to play after missing several games with concussion symptoms but Wolfe continues to be sidelined after suffering seizure-like symptoms before the team traveled to Kansas City to face the Chiefs late in the regular season.

Wolfe has been unable to practice the past two weeks. The rest of the Broncos’ walking wounded, including veteran cornerback Champ Bailey, will suit up for Sunday’s game.

It has to worry Broncos fans that the team’s front seven will be a shell of its former incarnation against the formidable offense of the Chargers. In addition to Wolfe, Von Miller is out for the season with a torn ACL and the Broncos have struggled at linebacker.

If the defense is up and able to get to Rivers I believe the Broncos will run away with this game. If the injury report is correct it seems to me that the Chargers are hurting offensively. Looks like 3 of their O line are injured…but according to what I’ve read that doesn’t mean they won’t play. I just have to believe that our D is ready for them and we will win.

I agree Betsy. They do have 3 o – linemen that are significantly injured. From what I could gather only one maybe will play, but regardless if they do play, how long and how effective is the question. I think our D – line will have some success not only in a passing push up the middle but also stuffing the run up the middle. And there will be one of our linebackers who will operate as a spy on Mathews or anybody else who is in at running back. So they may not be as effective getting the runs outside. And our D – backs have played better since Champ has returned. I think his mere presence gives them confidence in their abilities and helps them elevate their games. And now we have all our pieces back on offense, a healthy line, all 5/10 players back healthy and a rested and healthy Peyton Manning, so I look for them to put up some serious points on the Chargers! Go Broncos and Corral those Chargers with a Big ol’ Orange Crush!!!
