Broncos Safety Ward Fined $10,000 For Hit on Chiefs Maclin

Broncos safety T.J. Ward escaped a suspension, but not a fine for his actions in Sunday’s loss against the Kansas Chiefs, Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports.

The NFL fined Ward $10,000 for throwing at punch at Kansas City receiver Jeremy Maclin. Ward said Maclin took a cheap shot at him, and he took offense to a block late in Charcandrick West’s 80-yard touchdown catch and run.

Officials flagged Ward for the punch, ejecting him. Ward has been fined $33,150 the past two weeks for hitting a defenseless player, wearing an untucked jersey and punching Maclin.

Ward said the Chiefs’ style of play irked him this season.

“They were a pretty dirty team — the O-linemen, receivers and tight ends,” Ward said. “They were doing it last game and they continued to do it this game. It took an effect on me.”
