Second Season.

Well, here we are in the second season, or playoffs as we know it better than most teams. We are fortunate indeed that our Broncos made it again for the fourth straight season. That is better than the fans of most of the NFL have been treated to and I hope all of you appreciate that. It kind of extends our holiday season too and it is like a special Christmas gift to us. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas and will have a great 2015 too.
Now we do not know who we will be playing a week from Sunday, but the flavor will be one of three. We can only play the Steelers, Bengals or Colts in the Division round. No way can we exact revenge again on Joe Flacco and the Ravens unless they beat the Steelers and Pats first. We didn’t face the Steelers, beat Indy in the early part of the season and had that heartbreak of a game in Cincy two weeks ago. We know we can beat all three of those teams and it will be a home game, where the Broncos are unbeaten this year. We also should have the services of Julius Thomas, who needs a breakout game to get on track from the ankle injury he suffered in that awful performance by the Broncos in St. Louis, and Brandon Marshall, whose return should further stabilize the rocky performance of the lynch pin of our defense, the LBs. Our run defense should improve with him in the lineup and stunts seem to happen more with him in there too. I think Del Rio feels better psychology with him in there . Our defensive line has got to upgrade their play and an extra week to mend up should help them regain their dominant play. They really have done yeomens work and compare well as a unit with any in the NFL. Our D-backs need to continue their excellent play. The defense has been a huge factor this year and was capable for keeping us in a lot of games.
On offense, I noticed the better play of Peyton in the Raider game. His arm strength was excellent and most passes were spirals, not wounded ducks. And we changed game plans late in the season which focused on the running game we needed to establish heading for this Second Season. We did indeed discover a running game but the balance was back against the Raiders. And we know we can go deep again. Demaryius hurt a finger in that game and it led to some drops he normally wouldn’t make. And again, that extra week could work wonders for him by gametime. And who knew what kind of a jewel we had of a running back in C.J.Anderson. And picking up such a dynamite kicker in Connor Barth was another gift we had this year and was just named the special teams Player of the Week . And special teams as a whole got a bad game out of their system before the playoffs too. So we have a team with one of the alltime greats at QB, has a super running back and a defense that can support their offense and has thrown us some Orange Crush auras and who does that remind you of? The ’97-’98 teams had the same type of dynamic going on. Could we only be on the cusp of their hallowed success in Bronco History? We will see in 10 days if we will remember them in that revered way! God Bless you in this New Year and Go, Go Broncos and get healed and ready for our next opponent so you can lay a Big OL’ Orange Crush on them and lead us on a magic carpet ride to Arizona to seize and hoist that Lombardi!!!
