With the 207th pick, the Broncos went to Big Sky territory to opt for Boise State’s Matt Paradis OC, who was a defensive convert and walkon player. He is solidly built, intelligent, hard-nosed and an overachiever who will make the coaches very difficult to cut him. Will be the 3rd Center behind Manny Ramirez and Will Montgomery, but could be the backup Center if Manny is moved over to LG, which is his natural position. But Elway indicated that the Broncos would try many combinations to see what works best so he may have a great chance to show off his skills and abilities and make the team. Only time will tell but I think he will make the team.
In the Seventh Round, the Broncos dipped into the Big 12 to select OLB Cory Nelson from the Oklahoma Sooners.
Looking over his info he is recovering from a torn pectoral that washed out most of his senior year. So we may see his best football days in the Bronco uniform. He is a natural athlete , so will be given a chance to compete in the Mike and Will Linebacker positions and contibute to special teams. Or may play on the practice team. He is probably a decent shot to make the team.
Well that does it for the Broncos 2014 draft. I predict Bradley Roby, Cody Latimer and Michael Schofield will see plenty of action this season. The other three will be more long term projects, but all three, Lamin Barrow, Matt Paradis and Cory Nelson have good amounts of upside, so only time will tell on them. I give their whole draft a solid B to B+ for this year. Go, Go Broncos in 2014!
