Week 8 Prediction: Washington Redskins @ Denver Broncos

Good morning, Broncos fans!  It’s game day, and that means it time for another prediction article.  Unfortunately, last week, Denver and I both suffered our first defeats of the season.  It’s quite amazing to know that the Broncos can commit several turnovers and still lose by less than a touchdown.  It was a very sloppy game for the Broncos offense, and no one is going to want to make up for that more than Peyton Manning.

The Indianapolis Colts handed Denver it’s first loss of the season, and broke an amazing 17 game regular season winning streak.  The Broncos will look to keep their 10 game home winning streak in tact when the visiting Washington Redskins come to Mile High.  The Redskins offense ranks 4th in the NFL with 415.8 yards per game, and Denver still has the worst passing defense in the NFL, allowing 319 yards per game.  This game, like the Dallas game, has potential to be a shootout, unless the Denver D can force a couple of key turnovers.

5 Keys for My Prediction

1.  It will be interesting to see how the team learns and reacts from a regular season defeat.  It has been a long time since the Denver Broncos walked off of a regular season stage in defeat.  I expect the Broncos to come out and send a message to the rest of the league.  Peyton and company will want to get this nasty taste out of their mouth, and the Redskins secondary won’t have much to say about it.

2.  Denver is the best in the league at stopping the run.  The Redskins, led by Mike Shanahan will live and die on the running game.  If the Broncos defense can continue their domination in the trenches, then this game can get very one-sided, quickly.  IF RGIII is forced to compete in a shootout, then this should be a easy victory for Denver.

3. CJ Anderson could be making his debut.  This is the boost in the running game we have all been waiting for.  I spent time yesterday watching highlights from this guy in high school and college, and saw him do some things that I have never seen a running back do.  He has the potential to have a breakout game, and become a daily integral part of this dominating Denver offense.  I’m excited.

4.  The Redskins defense allows opposing quarterbacks to complete over 65% of their passes, and they allow more than 260 passing yards per game.  They have allowed 11 passing touchdowns, and only have collected 4 interceptions on the season.  Peyton Manning has completed over 70% of his passes, has over 2,500 passing yards, has thrown 25 touchdowns, and has only thrown 3 interceptions.  This is a scoring machine that is almost impossible to stop, and the Redskins will have their hands full all day!

5.  Peyton Manning, Erick Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker = The Greatest Offense Of All Time!  Too hot to handle.  7-1, here we come.

Final Score Prediction

Denver Broncos – 45

Washington Redskins – 27
