Week 1 Prediction Review

Wow!  What a game and a performance by Peyton Manning!  Ok, so I was a little off on my prediction, so let’s take a look at the 5 keys posted from yesterday and see how they played into the game last night.

1. Peyton Manning’s arm is stronger than it was last season and the Broncos wide receiver core will be way too much for the Baltimore secondary to handle.

Clearly Peyton Manning is in a different place then he was all of last season.  He has definately improved his arm strength, and the 7 TDs show just how much he has improved.  He is on pace to throw 112 TDs!  Wow!

2. Anquan Boldin now plays for the San Francisco 49ers.  He was a huge safety net for Flacco, but not anymore.

Flacco was able to spread the ball around pretty well last night, but 8 for 22 on 3rd downs shows how much he missed his old safety net.  Clark looked ready to take the role, but dropped too many important passes.

3. The pass rush will be fine without Doom and Von.  While I don’t expect it to be as dominating, Denver’s defense will still be able to get pressure on Flacco.

Pressure was not an issue.  Shaun Philips finished the game with 2.5 sacks and the Broncos totaled 4 sacks on the game.

4. The Denver O-Line may be the best in the NFL and will provide Manning with way too much time.

The Broncos allowed three total sacks, two coming from Doom and Suggs.  Peyton had plenty of time to shred the Baltimore defense for 462 yards and 7 TDs!

5. Thomas, Decker and Welker.  That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker combined for 16 catches, 260 yards and 4 TDs.

Score Prediction

Denver Broncos 31

Baltimore Ravens 17

Actual Final Score

Denver Broncos 49

Baltimore Ravens 27
