MLB Joe Mays Expected to Be Done for the Season After Leg Injury

Broncos middle linebacker Joe Mays is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious lower leg injury in the fourth quarter of his team’s 34-14 victory Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints, the Denver Post reports.

Mays was blocking on a Trindon Holliday punt return when the linebacker was blindsided with what appeared to be an inadvertent leg whip by a Saints player. Mays suffered a fractured fibula near the ankle on the play.

The Broncos re-signed Mays with a three-year, $12 million contract that paid him $4.5 million this year.
