WR Thomas Says He Never Got Gifts While at Georgia Tech

The Denver Post reports that Demaryius Thomas is denying that he got improper gifts while at Georgia Tech.

Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas said Thursday morning that a report that he received improper gifts while at Georgia Tech is not true. But the NCAA today put Georgia Tech on four years of probation and fined the school $100,000 for violations in the football and men’s basketball programs, citing the football team for its lack of cooperation with the investigation. Georgia Tech also should have declared a football player ineligible, the NCAA said, after he allegedly took $312 worth of gifts from a friend of a someone who worked at a sports agency. A blog report has speculated that Thomas, the Broncos first-round pick in 2010, and teammate Morgan Burnett received gifts of a shirt and watch while playing for the Yellow Jackets. Thomas, who is in Georgia rehabilitating from a torn Achilles tendon, said in a text message to The Denver Post that the online report was not true.
