Broncos Hall of Fame RB Floyd Little Says Get the Deal Done

Broncos Hall of Fame RB Floyd Little can see there is enough money to go around for owners and players to resolve their differences and reach a new CBA.

“Look, all you have to do is Google it,” Little told Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post. “You can see the problems. Playing careers are short, life expectancy is short and the health issues extend well past when you’re done playing.

“When they’re done with all this, we need to have something in place for guys to get the help they need. Because all of the guys in the league now are going to be where we are someday a lot sooner than later. That’s it. There’s enough money to go around on both sides, so do the deal and take care of the people who play the game we all love.”

Little also believes that while most of the public discourse regarding any new collective bargaining agreement has been about how the two sides split the enormous revenue pie, the long-standing solution may also rely on what kind of benefits the players obtain for themselves after their playing careers.

“There’s life expectancy and there’s quality of life, and neither one of those is very good right now for some guys,” Little said. “A lot of us are in wheelchairs, nursing homes. Some are taking their own lives.

“I think people understand that. Again, the leaders now, the Peyton Mannings, the Drew Breeses of the world, they understand they’re set, but that their careers and their teammates’ careers will finish someday with their lives left to live. It’s important everybody thinks about that.”

“This thing will be done right when everybody is done posturing,” Little said.

“They’ve got 90 percent of the issues resolved or know what it takes to resolve them, 90 percent. Now they’re just posturing on the rest. They all need the season, and if they don’t realize that, then they didn’t represent themselves well.”

“I think it’s going to be over soon,” Graham said. “I think now I’m anxious to get back to work, see where I’m going to end up this season and the last few years of my career.”
