Broncos Taking a Vacation

Starting with the Memorial Day weekend, the Broncos are taking their vacation for the next couple of weeks according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

Only the timing of the summer vacation is unusual. In the previous two offseasons under coach Josh McDaniels, the Broncos had their final minicamp around June 15. There would be another week or two of conditioning and then everybody ske-daddled until training camp commenced in the final days of July.

The hope, from the league’s perspective, is the players will re-certify as a union, return to the bargaining table, a new collective bargaining agreement gets done by the second week of July, and all heck breaks loose. (My sense is this is an overly optimistic timeline).

The Broncos have their two free-agent boards set up, one if players with four or more years of NFL experience are eligible for unrestricted free agency, another if the requirement is six-plus years of service. When the labor negotiators say go, the Broncos’ front office and coaching staff will have their plan ready.
