Broncos Want to Trade Down to Another Slot in Round One

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the Broncos’ preference is to trade back a few spots and pick up an extra pick but that will be difficult without a new collective bargaining agreement/rookie wage scale and if Carolina takes quarterback Cam Newton at No. 1.

Ideally, the Broncos trade back to either No. 3 Buffalo, No. 4 Cincinnati, No. 7 San Francisco or No. 8 Tennessee. Those four teams are in the quarterback market. So is Arizona at No. 5 but Cardinals GM Rod Graves almost never trades draft picks, and No. 10 Washington probably doesn’t have enough draft-pick ammunition to move up to No. 2. In exchange for swapping first-round picks, the Broncos would pick up either a second- or third-round pick.
