Marshall Comes Up Big as Broncos 4-0 with 17-10 Win Over Cowboys

Everyone said that once the Broncos played a “real team,” their real issues would show.

Now what will they say?

Sunday the Broncos proved they are better than many thought they would be, as they harassed Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense all day, holding them to 10 points in a 17-10 home win that pushes them to 4-0 on the season. With the Chargers loss to Pittsburgh, the team is now 2 full games up in the AFC West.

Brandon Marshall, whose off field issues finally seem to be going away, saved the day in a 10-10 game with an outstanding catch and run of 51 yards with 1:46 left to play to give the Broncos the lead. The defense allowed a big fourth down conversion to the Cowboys to eventually allow them to get to the Broncos two, but on fourth down with :01 left, held on fourth down to close out the win.

On offense, Kyle Orton again did enough to get the team the win, going 20-for-29 for 243 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. He outplayed Romo, who was 25-for-42 for 255 yards with a pick and a QB rating of 67.1. He also was sacked five times by a tough Broncos pass rush.

Dallas went up 10-0 in the first quarter after a Nick Folk field goal and a Marion Barber 1-yard TD. The Broncos though responded, as Orton hit Knowshon Moreno for a 9-yard TD in the second quarter, and then a Matt Prater field goal of 28 yards out tied the game with 5:58 left to play. That’s when the teams went back and forth, setting it up for Marshall to make a big game-changing TD.

Everyone wants to say the Broncos are still a team that has a lot to prove – and they do. But after this win, people better start taking notice that Josh McDaniels has the team playing at a high level. If you doubt that, just ask Romo and the Cowboys.
