Not Much Drama in Tonight’s Preseason Finale
What will the Broncos be looking to do in tonight’s preseason finale at Arizona? Not much. Other than doing the most important thing – which of course is to stay healthy, this will be more like a JV game between a lot of players that won’t be on their teams roster come tomorrow. The Broncos will not play any of their starters, as they would rather they be ready for the season opener September 8th vs Oakland.
As far as the reserves go, coach Mike Shanahan will use tonights game to gauge the final 3-4 spots on his roster. Other than that, the team is pretty well set as they get ready to take the field next Monday. Tonight will be the last chance for backups to make a good impression vs a Cardinals team that is looking to make a statement and start the season on a high note.
One position that will be watched is the wide out spot, as someone needs to step up while Brandon Marshall serves his one-game suspension. Clifford Russell, Glenn Martinez and Marquay McDaniel are three names to watch tonight in that area. Other than that, TiVo the game and watch it in fast forward, there won’t be much drama to look for.
