Hackney, Aldridge Impress As Broncos Defeat Cardinals 28-14

Marshall’s Suspension Reduced to One-Game

The Associated Press reports Broncos WR Brandon Marshall has had his suspension reduced to one game. His suspension begins Saturday, August 30th, and he can return to team headquarters September 9th. Marshall will forfeit his pay for an additional game, meaning he’ll lose a two-game total of $52,352.

Broncos Will Start Webster

Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan says Nate Webster has won the battle to start at middle linebacker.  He beat out Niko Koutovides in a close race, after the team gave Koutovides a three-year, 7.5-million-dollar free-agent contract over the summer.  Koutovides will get extra work in Friday’s preseason finale at Arizona.

Marshall Appealing Three-Game Suspension

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was in New York City yesterday, appealing a three-game suspension for off-field troubles.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had previously said he would cut the penalty to two games if Marshall cleans up his act and follows through with counseling.  Marshall is hoping to serve only one game, or possibly even none.  [...]

Jacobs Released; Powell Put on PUP List

Today the Broncos released wide receiver Taylor Jacobs and put rookie DT Carlton Powell on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.  Jacobs, in his sixth year out of Florida, signed with the Broncos on Nov. 6 and played six games in 2007, returning three kicks for 35 yards. Denver Parts Ways with WR Parker; Two Others
