Robertson Deal with the Jets May Take Awhile

ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that the deal between the Jets and Broncos for DT Dewayne Robertson may take awhile to happen. Clayton says it would require a late draft choice to get the deal done with the Jets, but that the Broncos would have to work out a new deal for Robertson before the trade happens.
The deal seems as of Monday to be going the other way. Robertson carries an $11.2 million cap number for the Jets, plus he’s not a fit at all for the teams 3-4 defense. He is set to make $9.8 million in 2008 and is signed through 2009. The 26-year-old defensive tackle produced only 14.5 sacks in five seasons, but many scouts and personnel people believe Robertson could thrive in the right 4-3 system.

This deal shouldn’t tale long at all! Just Trade D-Rob for Foxworth and a 4th rounder! Im sure Denver can fix the numbers, he’ll be great in that system!

Maybe the Broncos need to go back through last years film and watch everyone run all over them to realize that they will be getting a great D-Tackle with a unbelievable motor that will immediately sure up the D-Line. Robertson is a good guy that (in good health) can easily make a Pro Bowl. He hasn’t missed much time at all since coming into the league and the Broncos would be foolish not to get something done!!! The Jets are virtually just unloading salary, so the Broncos just have to fork up the cash. They need to sure up the run D, so that it’s not a big deal to leave those great corners on an island.

Robertson is a beast. The Jets are a-holes for letting him go. When he hits somebody, their whole body convulses from the shock. He will be in the pro bowl within 2 years.
