How Aggressive Will the Broncos be in Free Agency?

Will the Broncos be major players in the free agent market? Yes, according to ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas, who wrote a bit earlier about the team and what they will do. Here is the story below about the Broncos and what they will do:

“Denver never sits quietly in the offseason, and coach Mike Shanahan isn’t going to change his methods. The Broncos already have been exploring defensive tackle help through potential trades. But the bigger need might be at wide receiver.

The Broncos could pull a surprise and enter the sweepstakes for Randy Moss. Or they could be a player for someone like Jacksonville’s Ernest Wilford.

Shanahan has anointed Jay Cutler as the franchise quarterback. But if the Broncos don’t sign a couple of wide receivers, Cutler will join Brian Griese and Jake Plummer on the list of guys who couldn’t fill John Elway’s shoes.”

  1. Gary says:

How good was Elway? He got to three Superbowls with the likes of Sammy Winder and The Three Amigos. I double-dog dare any quarterback rated “better” than Elway to accomplish that.

My fear about Cutler is that at Vanderbilt he never had to win. Any win was considered pretty cool, but he was never expected to win. What if he just doesn’t know how? Of course, Elway wasn’t on great teams at Stanford, though certainly better than Vanderbilt.
