Broncos Talking with Lions and Jets About a Three-Way Trade
Posted by Matt Loede on February 28th, 2008 filed in NewsThe NFL is not a league known for trades, and even more rare is a trade that involves more than two teams. That trend may be changing a bit, as ProFootballTalk.com is reporting talks of a three-way deal involving the Jets, Lions and Broncos may very well be in the works. The story goes that the Jets would get Lions DT Shaun Rogers, the Broncos would get Jets first-round bust DT Dewayne Robertson, and the Jets would get Broncos corner Dominique Foxworth. Detroit would get a second-round pick from the Broncos.
The deal does make sense from a logistics standpoint, as each team would be filling a need. Mind you that the Lions would also sign Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who has been given permission to seek a trade and was in Detroit this week for a physical. Detroit is unhappy with Rogers, who would basically take over Robertson’s role on the Jets D-line. The Jets want to dump Robertson, who would start for the Broncos, and Vilma would fill in nicely on the Lions.
As far as Foxworth goes, that’s the first I’ve heard of his name coming up in trade talks, but the Jets are looking to add a corner, with rumors early on they would possibly go after Pats free agent to be Asante Samuel, but those rumors have cooled since it came out Samuel wants $10 to $11 mil per season. It will be interesting to sit back and see if these three teams can get this deal pulled off, the first of its kind in some time.

asante samuel and gibril wilson would be a dream and a perfect secondary and the jets can worry about the OL and DL in other areas

if they go the other way they could pick up OG alan faneca and OT flozell adams giving the jets a solid OL and forcing them to draft other needs

personally this is what i would love to see this happen:
- they sign asante samuel for 3yrs/$31mil
-they sign flozzell adams for 2yrs/9mil
-they sign alan faneca for 4yrs/$44mil
-they sign gibril wilson 5yrs/$25mil
-they move robertson to defensive end
-they trade vilma for kris jenkins
-they trade chad pennington for a 5th round pick
-they sign kerry rhodes for 6yrs/$26mil
they released dyson, clarke, and mcCareins
-the release sean ryan,marcuis tuisosopo
DRAFT
1 vernon golston DE/OLB
2 red bryant DT
3 ILB
4 DE
5 QB
5 WR
6 OL
7 trade away
NOW YOUR LEFT WITH JUST ABOUT NO SALARY CAP BUT YOU HAVE A 11-5 OR 12-4 FOOTBALL TEAM WITH PERFECT DBs A GREAT DL AND DECENT LBs
ON OFFENSIVE YOU HAVE A GREAT OL A GREAT RB EFFECTIVE RECIEVERS DECENT TE AND THE ONLY WEAKNESS IS QB
