Shanahan “Embarrassed” By Losing Season

The coach blames himself.  Yesterday at Dove Valley, Broncos head man Mike Shanahan reflected on a 7-and-9 season.  He says the team was good enough to win 10 games or more, if he’d done a better job coaching.  Shanahan does admit massive injuries and a faulty defense didn’t help.  Things are already changing for the Broncos.  Shanahan chose Bob Slowik as defensive coordinator to replace the departed Jim Bates, left tackle Matt Lepsis retired, and wide receiver Javon Walker seemed to demand a trade at season’s end, but Shanahan says he’ll let Walker cool off for a month or two, then talk to him about the future.
