Broncos sign QB Hackney from practice squad
Posted by Stephen Rhodes on November 11th, 2007 filed in NewsAs an insurance policy more than anything else, the Denver Broncos signed quarterback Darrell Hackney from the practice squad while starting QB Jay Cutler is recovering from a badly bruised left leg. Hackney was originally signed as as a college free agent by the Cleveland Browns in 2006; he spent his rookie season out of the National Football League after Cleveland waived him.
Hackney joined the Broncos as a future contract signee on January 2; he completed 10-for-22 passes for 113 yards with an interception during the preseason. In the meantime, Cutler practiced this week, but the team has said that QB Patrick Ramsey will start against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday if Cutler can’t go. Sure sounds like a gametime decision to me.
