Hamilton out for year with concussion

Broncos guard Ben Hamilton, even after attempting valiantly to recover from a concussion that he sustained during training camp, was placed on the injured-reserve list by the team, ending his season. Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan told Jeff Legwold of the Rocky Mountain News, “I talked to Ben and talked to his wife, Jeanne, and after talking to both of them a while, we came to the conclusion that Ben was going to go on IR. . . We thought it was in his best interest. He really didn’t want to, but he’s been struggling here for the last six, seven weeks and his condition right now, there’s a big question mark if he’d be ready for the remainder of the season.”
Prior to this season, Hamilton had not missed a game in five years. The Broncos have 2 options available to them: use either offensive tackle Cliff Washburn or center/guard Mark Fenton – or bring back OT Chad Mustard, who has been with the Broncos twice already this season.
