REWARDS: Walker re-established himself as one of the game’s premier big-play receivers in his first season with the Broncos after a devastating knee injury wiped out his 2005 season. Walker averaged 15.7 yards-per-reception and recorded nine total touchdowns (one rushing) in an offense that struggled for the most part in 2006. Walker has not averaged less than 13.9 yards per receptions in four full seasons in the league.
RISKS: The Broncos’ offense will always be synonymous for its potent ground game. Expect new running back Travis Henry (Titans) to be the focal point of the offense in 2007 as head coach Mike Shanahan has found his true go-to back. The addition of free-agent tight end Daniel Graham (Patriots) may also take some red zone opportunities away from Walker. Walker also needs to develop some chemistry with quarterback Jay Cutler as he averaged less than four catches per game for 46 yards and two total touchdowns in the five games Cutler started.
BOTTOM LINE: Walker appears poised to return to 2004 form, when he recorded 89 receptions, 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns. Playing in an offense that is tailor-made for him, owners should be confident selecting Walker as their No. 1 wideout.
